About the role
This is a freelance, project-based opportunity: you join us on specific data engineering projects whenever the scope fits your profile and availability.
You will be responsible for end-to-end data migrations and pipelines — covering extract/convert, transform, validate, and load stages — with strong emphasis on data quality, traceability, and observability.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute complex data migrations and pipelines covering extract/convert, transform, validate, and load stages
- Structure pipelines in clear, well-defined layers (e.g. raw, standardized, clean)
- Generate intermediate CSV outputs at key steps to support audit and traceability
- Implement consistent and informative logging across every stage
- Build concise validation routines: duplicate detection, missing records, referential integrity, and business rule conformance
- Critically review pipeline outputs and proactively flag inconsistencies before delivery
- Document decisions, transformations, and validation results
Requirements
- Solid Python (data manipulation, scripts, and automation)
- Strong experience with pandas
- PostgreSQL and advanced SQL
- Advanced English (reading, writing, and verbal communication)
- Minimum of 1 year of professional experience in data engineering or data migration projects
- Strong attention to detail and a critical mindset when reviewing data outputs
Nice to have
- Experience with data orchestration tools (Airflow or similar)
- Familiarity with cloud-based databases and storage
- Prior experience leading or owning end-to-end migration projects
